OH CRAP! And Two Things to Improve your Week

Yes I said it, a forbidden word in a blog title.  So what?  get over it.

I am ticked off because I caught myself doing the same thing I always tell you never to do.  just remember do as I say NOT as I do.

improve your weekWhat is this terrible thing I have done?  I haven’t updated my blog in over a week!  It is a mortal sin, I know.  And to you – I apologize.  Take a lesson from my playbook and don’t do it! (it hurts your stats).

But seriously, I guess late night runs to the grocery store for strange foods and tests have kept me busy.

So what are we going to talk about today?

How about two things you can do right now that will improve your week?

1. Remind yourself why you work

Why do you toil in misery sometimes?  Why do you keep putting up with the suppliers, the customers, the consultants and the computers who annoy you sometimes?  I don’t think you do it just so you can pay the bills.

If you are self employed there is something else to it.  What do you love about it?  Do you hope to teach your kids to work from home by participating in your business?  Do you hope to earn more than you will ever earn working in a cubicle farm?  Why?  What is your motivation?

Put a picture on your desk.  I have said it before, but it is essential that you look regularly at whatever it is that motivates you.   Life is hard on us mortals.  We need a reminder of why we should keep putting up with the hardships and keep hoping for something better.

2. Get centered

I rarely use mumbo jumbo philosophy speak, but there is somethign to this.  So take a few minutes, close your eyes and think about the people or things that really matter to you.

Most people have nothing to die for and so they have nothing to live for.  They are doomed to be wandering messes their whole lives.  You need to focus on the things you are willing to die for.  Get centered on them.  This will give you something to live for.

Without a purpose, we are doomed to never have any meaning.  Without meaning our souls die long before our bodies.  And a person with a dead soul will never really be successful.

Now you can get back to work.

Seriously, though, dont just read this blog post.  Take five minutes and find your focus and get centered on it. I guarantee you it will make you much more productive through the rest of the week.
